Setup guide
Connect Codex to your WooCommerce store
Connect OpenAI Codex to your WooCommerce store with MCPify: per-connection permissions, extra locks for prices and customer data, and a log of every request.
1. Connect your store and create a connection
- Install the free MCPify plugin (WordPress.org listing coming soon; until then, ask Support@MCPify.app for the plugin file) and activate it.
- Open WooCommerce › MCPify in your WordPress admin, click Connect to MCPify and approve the WooCommerce API key for MCPify. Choose read only if the AI should never change anything.
- Click Open MCPify. In the dashboard, create a connection (e.g. "Codex") and start from a preset: Catalog editor can edit products and content but cannot delete anything; Read only changes nothing. You can also create the connection later, while signing in.
2. Add MCPify to Codex
Codex app
- Add MCPify as a custom connector (MCP server) with the server URL https://woo.getmcpify.app/mcp.
- Codex asks to connect MCPify: click Connect MCPify.
- On MCPify's sign-in page, choose Continue in WordPress admin and enter your store address, or enter a pairing code from the MCPify dashboard, and you are back in Codex.
Codex CLI
- Add MCPify to ~/.codex/config.toml:
[mcp_servers.mcpify]
url = "https://woo.getmcpify.app/mcp"- Then run codex mcp login mcpify and sign in: choose Continue in WordPress admin and enter your store address, or enter a pairing code from the MCPify dashboard.
No client ID, secret or WooCommerce API key needs to be copied: Codex registers itself, and you sign in through your WordPress admin. Clients that cannot sign in can use an MCPify API key instead; the connection page in the dashboard shows the exact setup.
3. Try it
Ask Codex something like:
- “Which products have no images?”
- “Set the stock of SKU <sku> to 25 and show me the change first.”
- “Run the product launch check for <product>.”
Codex asks before it changes anything. Requests the connection does not allow are blocked, and every request, allowed or blocked, appears in MCPify's audit log.
Questions
Can Codex see my customers' data?
Not by default. Orders and customers are off in the presets, and while the customer data limit is off, names, emails, phone numbers and addresses are removed from every response.
I changed a permission. What now?
It applies to the next request. Start a new chat so Codex sees newly allowed tools.
How do I stop access?
Revoke the connection in the MCPify dashboard. Disconnecting the store in WooCommerce › MCPify, or deactivating the plugin, cuts off every AI client immediately and deletes MCPify's API key.
Other AI clients
